Camp-Marine Biology I & II
Become a field biologist and investigate Connecticut’s coastal waters.
General Information
- Instructor: Julie Ainsworth
- Conduct experiments, collect data and learn about the organisms that inhabit Long Island Sound.
- Using a variety of field research techniques, we’ll increase our knowledge of local shorelines.
- Four days will be based at the Surf Club, from which we’ll explore sandy beaches, tidepools at West Wharf, and the salt marshes at Garvan Point.
- On the fifth day, camp will meet at Project Oceanology in Groton, CT where we’ll visit science labs and embark on a marine study cruise.
- More information and directions will be sent to participants prior to camp.
- Campers should have a serious interest in math, science and the marine environment.
